To
Shri Mansukh Mandavia,
Minister For Labor and employment, government of India
Subject: Plea to “End exploitation” of EPF pensioners and provide respectable life….
MEMORANDUM
submitted thru
Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, (Gr.I) VISHAKAPATNAM office by agitating EPS 95 pensioners.
Respected Sir,
On 6th Aug 2024, thousands of EPS 95 Pensioners held Dharna at Jantar Mantar asking for end of exploitation by Employees Provident Fund organization and for respectable retired life.
A delegation under the leadership of Shri Kanagaraj, our Vice-President AICCEPFPA met you along with some of the MPs of various parties.
In the discussion that followed you expressed your opinion that you have taken the charge only recently and will like to make yourself aware of the facts before making the decision.
The MP Mr. said that the minister should take information and make a decision in one month.
Hence, we waited for your announcernent for one month, ie. till 6th of September 24. We were very much disappointed to hear no announcement from you.
We have already given you memorandum on 6th of August.
We have clearly stated that the present scheme does nor even spend the entire interest earned on EPS corpus for payment of pension.
The percentage of interest spent for payment of pension is as low as 25%. The average pension paid is as low as 1486 per pensioner, when it is possible to pay an average pension of 5800.
The supreme court has given direction to pay pension on entire salary to those eligible pensioners. The pensioners have applied for higher option.
The Employees Provident Fund Organization is not processing the applications.
It is also harassing pensioners by accepting the difference of contribution but not paying increase pension and arrears. This is a cruel game with the pensioners.
The government made changes to the scheme if September 2014. Pro Rata method of calculation was introduced.
This revision has adversely affected the pension amount of those retired post 2014 September.
This has caused a loss of about 2000 to 2500 per month to such persons retired post 2014 September. This is injustice meted out to the pensioners by the Government.
We make demand to you, to look into the matter urgently and end the exploitation of pensioners by EPFO.
We also demand that you fulfil your responsibility to provide us with respectable life to fulfil your constitutional responsibility.
We request you to make efforts as minister of Labor and Employment to meet our following demands
1) The minimum pension should be Rs 9000 per month.
2) It should be protected from price rise with dearness allowance.
3) All changes made to scheme should be scrapped. Revert pro rata and pay arrears for the loss.
4) There should be “No cut of date” for availing Higher option, that is pension on entire salary.
Rapidly process higher option applications and give respectable life to eligible pensioners.
5) Give travel concession to pensioner and spouse at the age of retirement.
6) Give comprehensive medical cover to the EPS pensioner and spouse.
7) Give all essential commodities through fare price ration to EPS pensioner and spouse.
8) Stop privatization of EPS funds. Protect privatized EPS fund by providing counter-guarantee.
9) Conduct independent enquiry of the rejected claims to find out if there is mischief on part of officers. Also conduct enquiry to find out any necessary improvements in the system to reduce the rejection of claims.
We hope you will concede our demands.
Thanking you Sir,
Yours faithfully,
NA MARAIAH SASTRY
